Colorado Wal-Mart Workers Want Union

Let's see how long these workers stay employed before Wal-Mart closes the Tire & Lube shop in this store.

Workers at Colorado Wal-Mart Take Initial Move to Unionize
The Associated Press

LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) - In a move that has been unsuccessful elsewhere
in the United States, 17 workers at a Wal-Mart Tire & Lube Express
have taken the first step to unionize at the world's largest retailer.

The National Labor Relations Board planned a hearing Thursday to
consider the workers' request to be represented by the United Food
and Commercial Workers Local 7.

"Wal-Mart workers don't have to be second-class citizens," said
Ernest Duran Jr., president of the union, which also represents more
than 17,000 grocery workers at King Soopers, Safeway and Albertsons
stores.

Union officials argue the workers in the automotive service
department are separate from the store and eligible for independent
union representation. Wal-Mart officials disagree.

"With approximately 400 associates in that particular facility, we
feel that more than 17 associates should have a say on such an
important matter," said Christi Gallagher, a spokeswoman for
Bentonville, Ark-based Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart said it treats its workers fairly and has an open door
policy that lets each negotiate directly with management.

"Our associates see they don't have to pay hard earned money to do
what they can do every day," she said.

The union is in negotiations with the Colorado grocery stores, which
have cited competition from nonunion discount chains such as Wal-Mart
in offering wage and benefit increases that have been rejected by
workers.

Efforts to unionize Wal-Mart stores in the United States have failed,
while in Canada, a government agency this year certified workers at a
Quebec store as a union and told the two sides to negotiate. Wal-Mart
has said it may have to close that store.

In the United States, the closest a U.S. union ever came to
representing Wal-Mart workers happened in 2000. Eleven members of the
store's meatpacking department at Jacksonville, Texas, store voted to
be represented by the UFCW.

In a move it said was unrelated to the union vote, Wal-Mart
eliminated the job of meatcutter company-wide, and announced it would
only sell pre-cut, pre-wrapped meat.

The workers were offered other jobs at the store.

MASSIVE ANTI-INAUGURAL DC DEMONSTRATION

Momentum builds for January 20 counter-inaugural demonstration in Washington DC
Monday November 22, 2004

A war criminal will be inaugurated on January 20 and the people will protest

Preface: Pinochet and Bush - the troubles facing war criminals

Learning a lesson from the trials and tribulations of the dictator Augusto Pinochet, who was indicted for crimes against humanity when he traveled outside of Chile, George W. Bush arranged for his being granted "diplomatic immunity" by Chilean president Lagos as a precondition for Bush's trip to Chile for the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference.

The Los Angeles Times of Nov. 18 reports, "President Richard Lagos's government took the unusual step yesterday of announcing that Bush would have diplomatic immunity during his visit. The declaration was made after some activists filed a criminal complaint against Bush in court, claiming that he and other U.S. officials were guilty of war crimes in Iraq."

"Diplomatic immunity" didn't stop thousands of people taking to the streets in Chile in massive demonstrations against Bush. All around the world people are in the streets protesting the criminal conduct of the Bush administration. January 20 will be another big step in building this movement.

4,000+ endorsers for the counter-inaugural protest

Over 4,000 have already endorsed A.N.S.W.E.R.'s call for a mass demonstration on January 20, 2005, at the site of the Bush inauguration. This is a legally permitted demonstration. The Bush administration, fully exposed for its destruction of Fallujah and fearing the embarrassment of a mass demonstration at the Inaugural route, is now following the usual script to intimidate the people: publicly announcing that there is an unprecedented security threat on January 20 and that the government is mobilizing 4,000 army combat soldiers to be in the streets of DC that today.

There has never been a more important time for the people of the United States to take a clear and powerful stand. The events of the past two weeks again unmasked the criminal nature of the administration. The government asserts that more than 1,200 "insurgents" have been killed in the last week alone. How many are really civilians? Donald Rumsfeld insists at his press conferences that civilians in Fallujah had only themselves to blame for not fleeing their homes but the truth is that Bush and Rumsfeld blocked people from leaving.

According to Robert Reid's AP dispatch of November 12, "Troops have cut off all roads and bridges leading out of Fallujah and have turned back hundreds of men trying to flee the city during the assault. Only women, children and the elderly can leave. The military says keeping men aged 15 to 55 from leaving is key to the mission's success. " Family after family had to decide whether they would all return together to the city or to separate from the boys and their fathers.

The International Red Cross estimates that more than 800 civilians were killed in Fallujah in just one horrifying week. That is likely to be a conservative estimate. But just imagine 800 civilians - in just one week in one city of 250,000.

The U.S. military strategy and its rules of engagement in Fallujah constitute a crime against humanity and war crimes as recognized by the Nuremberg Trial and the Geneva Convention. Targeting hospitals, clinics and ambulances, the U.S. forces tried to destroy everything. A report collated by the UN testifies to the U.S. air strike on one clinic where 20 doctors were killed.

The western part of Fallujah was declared a "weapons free zone" - meaning that U.S. troops could fire at anything that moved in that area.

War at Home - War Abroad

While Bush and Congress are spending nearly $300 million each day to kill poor people in Iraq, working class and poor communities are taking a beating at home. Last week the press announced that Detroit was laying off 4,000 teachers and other school workers and closing as many as 40 schools because of a deficit of $198 million. That amount equals less than what is spent every 16 hours for the occupation and war in Iraq. Of course, Halliburton and the other corporate and banking entities don't make super-profits from public education in Detroit.

We cannot pause for a moment in building a mass movement opposed to war at home and in support of social, civil and workers rights at home. People are coming together once again.

Help support the January 20 Counter-Inaugural Demonstration

On January 20, 2005, thousands will be lining the inaugural route in mass protest. There will be simultaneous protests in San Francisco, Los Angeles and other cities on January 20. At an international conference in solidarity with the people of Cuba held in Luxembourg last weekend, a resolution was adopted calling for coordinated demonstrations to take place on January 20 throughout Europe.

Our demonstrations will be a powerful statement in solidarity with all those who are under attack by the Bush administration - from Cuba to Palestine to Haiti to the Philippines to Iran and elsewhere.

Republiscum Vote Suppression

This article has an interesting take on how the US Department of Justice switched sides and became criminals themselves in not enforcing the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This is not surprising due to the fact that when a wannabe president is appointed the Constitution becomes null and void.

GOP Vote Suppression:
A Crime Against the U.S. Constitution

by Edward Spannaus

"The kinds of fraud which were perpetrated by the Republicans alone in this election, were sufficient to send these guys to jail, if not to un-elect them," declared former Democratic President candidate Lyndon LaRouche during his Nov. 9 webcast. "Voter suppression! ... That's tyranny! That's dictatorship! And there was a lot of it," LaRouche emphasized.

LaRouche charged that those Republicans who engaged in the crime of vote suppression around the Nov. 2 Presidential elections are guilty of violating the Federal Voting Rights Act and the U.S. Constitution, and he pointed out that, "from a Constitutional law standpoint, what was made was a not-so-cold coup d'état against the United States Constitution." Wal-Mart Claims it is not Anti-Union

In another blatant farce by Wal-Mart, a spokesman for the company claims that the company is not anti-union. If you believe that then, there were no civilian casualties in Fallujah, Iraq.

Wal-Mart Clarifies Policy Regarding Unions

By MELISSA NELSON, Associated Press Writer

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Although Wal-Mart prefers to handle labor negotiations directly with individual employees, the world's largest retailer does not have a global anti-union policy, a company spokeswoman said Friday.

"Our global policy is to work within the laws of individual countries," said Wal-Mart international spokeswoman Beth Keck. More>>>

Union Organizer to Stand Trial for Free Speech.

The Bush Terror Regime is hellbent on taking away workers rights to organize and freedom of speech. If anyone can attend this trial, it is a week before the coronation of queen George, it would further show the support of Unions and their benefits to society, in general.
Also, show your support for this organizing effort by not doing business with Starbucks.

Gross participated in a peaceful union rally in front of the Starbucks store where he works to protest the Bush Administration’s support for anti-union actions at the world’s largest coffee chain. He faces a maximum sentence of over six months in jail. The union is asking its friends and allies to attend the trial in support of the right to protest. The trial will begin on January 14 at 9:30 a.m. in Part C of the 100 Centre Street Courthouse in Downtown Manhattan. More>>>

Union Organizer Murdered by Corporate Thugs

By STEVEN GREENHOUSE

Published: November 21, 2004

Gilberto Soto, a union organizer in New Jersey, was so upset by the wages and working conditions of truck drivers in Central America that when he went home to visit his mother in El Salvador and celebrate his 50th birthday this month, he added a week to his vacation to go to ports to see about unionizing them.

On the eve of his birthday, he stepped outside of his family's longtime home in Usulután to talk on his cellphone. "We suddenly heard three shots," recalled his sister Arelí, who was inside. "He immediately called out to my mother, saying, 'Mamá, they're killing me.' "

The killing, on Nov. 5, has deeply unsettled American labor leaders, who called for an investigation. They suspect that Mr. Soto, an organizer for the Teamsters, was gunned down as part of a systematic effort to suppress union activity in El Salvador.

John J. Sweeney, president of the A.F.L.-C.I.O., and James P. Hoffa, president of the Teamsters, met with El Salvador's ambassador in Washington on Tuesday to press his government to track down the killers.

"We told the ambassador of our deep concern about the lack of any type of meaningful investigation," Mr. Hoffa said. "We're concerned that Gilberto Soto was murdered because of his intention to meet with labor leaders and truck drivers in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras."

American labor unions have promised a $75,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the conviction of Mr. Soto's killers.

The Salvadoran ambassador, René León, said in an interview that he had spoken with his country's president after the meeting and that he was told the police were investigating the killing.

Saying that political crimes in El Salvador had dropped sharply in the past decade, Ambassador León cautioned against concluding that it was a political assassination. "We don't want a situation where this murder is not resolved, because that is not good for our democracy," he said. "We want this case to be solved."

He said his government was not speculating on the cause of the slaying, although family members voiced concern that the police appeared to focus their investigation on whether it was a gang or drug killing.

Mr. Soto's brother-in-law, Carlos Chacón, who came to the United States this week to attend the funeral, said the idea that Mr. Soto was involved in a gang or drug crime was absurd. Mr. Soto, he said, was a family man in Cliffside Park, N.J., a father of three, who was active in his church.

The former New Jersey governor, James E. McGreevey, had appointed him to the state's Environmental Justice Advisory Council. Mr. Soto was also engaged with leftist political groups like the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, as well as a group that provided computers to his homeland.

In recent years, he focused on organizing thousands of truck drivers at ports from Newark to Boston.

"The neighbors all told us there were three people who attacked him," Mr. Chacón said. "They didn't steal anything from him. They didn't talk to him. They all ran in different directions."

Adding to labor leaders' concerns, CEAL, a Salvadoran labor rights group that was publicizing the murder, said that its office was ransacked Saturday and that its computer and communications equipment were stolen.

Mr. Soto's younger brother, Francisco, an occasional truck driver in New Jersey, said he hoped to take up his brother's work organizing port drivers. "Maybe I don't have his talents, but I hope to continue his work," Francisco Soto said, tears streaming from his eyes. "He was my hero."

This is an example of what global corporate control has in store for workers who demand a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. Corporate power will decimate a society as we can see with the corporate control of the media in the United States.

Condition Cold War: Ukraine

We now have a rigged election, it seems, in Ukraine. The Putin backed candidate and the Kremlin seem to be playing the same fraud on their voters as the Bush Terror Regime has seemingly, and with growing evidence, done in America.
The European Union is calling for investigations and, in a show of complete hypocrisy, the American terrorists are warning Ukraine of inconsistencies that may have resulted in fraud will not be tolerated.
Is this unbelieveable or what?
Putin has informed the appointed idiot to keep his nose out of it because, he has no room to talk. This is placing cold war era tensions on the US/Russian relationship to the cost of millions of voters who have been ignored in both the US and Ukraine.
Viktor Yushchenko, the challenger of the government-backed incumbent, Viktor Yanukovych, offers reforms and the end of corruption that will provide for a more prosperous Ukranian society, similar to what we Americans wanted on November 2. But, the ruling elite and corrupt conservative criminals refuse to abide by the laws of the countries they represent.
But, the Ukranians are getting it right. They have held around the clock demonstrations that have shown a growing concern over fraud. Police and military blockades are losing strength because members of these security teams are being mutinous and joining with the victims of the rigged elections. I believe we could see that in America on January 20 when Washington D.C is brought to a virtual halt because of the protestors arriving en masse'.
Some cities in the Ukraine already view Mr. Yushchenko as their President and have vowed to follow only his orders.
Hryhoriy Surkis, a Ukrainian legislator, has been denied a visa to the US because he comes from a country with suspected fraudulent elections. This is a prime example of the hypocrisy of the scum in America. When the coward of Crawdad leaves the US, we should not allow his re-entry and send him to Ottawa, Canada where he is being indicted on terrorist charges.
We Americans should show support and follow the example of the Ukranians in taking back our country from a group of illegitimate criminals...and by whatever force is necessary. January 20 is approaching and we have much to do.

Join the protest in Washington D.C on January 20. Let's shut the town down!!!

PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVERS SEEK NATIONAL UNION

PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVERS SEEK NATIONAL UNION
ORGANIZERS ACCUSE DELIVERY CHAINS OF ABUSING WORKERS

A fledgling national union for pizza drivers is demanding better wages and training, saying the large chains have been taking advantage of them for years.

It's an effort that has attracted the attention of the Teamsters union, but the Association of Pizza Delivery Drivers, based in Hendersonville, has yet to organize its first shop.

A vote at a Domino's franchise in Lincoln, Neb., failed last Tuesday night on a tie. But organizers expect a better result next week when Pizza Hut drivers vote at a store near Columbus, Ohio.

Tim Lockwood, treasurer of the pizza delivery union, said getting the first vote itself was a huge victory as the union started just a couple of years ago with a few drivers in an Internet chat room commiserating about unfair working conditions. More>>>

Democrats Score in the Rockies.

DEMOCRATS SCORE IN THE ROCKIES

Imagine a parallel universe where, instead of crying in their beer as the election results rolled in on November 2, Democrats were raising microbrews in toasts to their unprecedented success. Now, stop imagining and focus on the Rocky Mountain West, a region that trended so Republican in the 1990s that a popular joke suggested gays and lesbians were afraid to come out of the closet for fear of being thought to be Democrats. This year the Democrats got the last laugh. While those so-simplistic-as-to-be-useless maps of partisan breakdowns in the presidential race paint the region as hopelessly Republican--feeding the sense that wide expanses of America are lost forever to the Democratic Party--Dan Petegorsky of the Western States Center invites a closer look, which reveals that "the 'red' label on the presidential map contrasts sharply with the state-level results." Fallujah in Pictures

Fallujah....by all means a meat grinder. A meat grinder you will not hear or see much about on the scum-controlled media in America.
Imagine yourself there. Imagine the horror, the stench, the noise and the fear.
Then, live it.
Only 2 in the criminal enterprise running this war have actually experienced it.
And they and their supporters are the absolute lowest scum in the universe.
They need the experience.
Send them to Iraq.
Death will welcome them.

800 Civilians Feared Dead in Fallujah

Dahr Jamail

BAGHDAD, Nov 16 (IPS) - At least 800 civilians have been killed during the U.S. military siege of Fallujah, a Red Cross official estimates.

Speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of U.S. military reprisal, a high-ranking official with the Red Cross in Baghdad told IPS that ”at least 800 civilians” have been killed in Fallujah so far.

His estimate is based on reports from Red Crescent aid workers stationed around the embattled city, from residents within the city and from refugees, he said.

”Several of our Red Cross workers have just returned from Fallujah since the Americans won't let them into the city,” he said. ”And they said the people they are tending to in the refugee camps set up in the desert outside the city are telling horrible stories of suffering and death inside Fallujah.”

The official said that both Red Cross and Iraqi Red Crescent relief teams had asked the U.S. military in Fallujah to take in medical supplies to people trapped in the city, but their repeated requests had been turned down.

Fallujah Battered And Mostly Quiet After the Battle

Washington Post - Tuesday, November 16, 2004

FALLUJAH, Iraq, Nov. 15 -- Even the dogs have started to die, their corpses strewn among twisted metal and shattered concrete in a city that looks like it forgot to breathe.

The aluminum shutters of shops on the main highway through town have been transformed by the force of war into mangled accordion shapes, flat, sharp, jarring slices of metal that no longer obscure the stacks of silver pots, the plastic-wrapped office furniture, the rolls of carpet. These things would be for sale, except there are no traders, no customers, hardly any people at all in the center of Fallujah.

No Embeds at Landstuhl

Far from the battleground, and the eyes of reporters and cameramen, almost 500 wounded U.S. military personnel have been airlifted to Germany for medical treatment since the start of the Fallujah offensive. Despite claims that the heavy fighting has ended, another 46 arrived on Monday.

By Greg Mitchell

NEW YORK (November 11, 2004) -- Dozens of embedded reporters re-enlisted this week, and hundreds of newspapers recounted the invasion of the insurgent stronghold (which turned out to be not quite as strong as expected) as if it might prove to be the turning point in the war. The embeds were far from the scene, however, when several other rebel centers exploded in death and fury.

And they are completely missing from the American tragedy unfolding at the military's Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where most of the seriously wounded U.S. troops in Iraq are taken. As of Saturday, according to hospital officials, at least 413 U.S. military personnel had been airlifted to the facility from Iraq since the start of the offensive, forcing them to add beds and expand their operations.

Dawn of the Brain Dead

Dawn of the Brain-Dead
By DOUG THOMPSON
Nov 12, 2004, 05:56

The re-election of mentally- and morally-challenged George W. Bush means the dumbing down of America is complete.

Bush returned to office because an army of brain-dead cretins, their minds turned to mush by years of right-wing propaganda, marched to the polls and exercised what little grey matter remained to pull the lever, touch the screen or mark the ballot to elect anything Republican.

True, no small measure of blame goes to the Democrats for fielding their own Keystone Cops slate of candidates, but Republicans stay in power because they have turned their followers into a mob of zombies, staring blankly into space while their party destroys a once-great country called America. my big fat Iraqi wedding?

Layers of Aircraft Press U.S. Air War on Fallujah

By Jim Krane Associated Press Writer
Published: Nov 11, 2004

NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) - The skies over Fallujah are so crowded with U.S. military aircraft that they are layered in stacks above the city, from low-flying helicopters and swooping attack jets to a jet-powered unmanned spy drone that flies above 60,000 feet.

Much of the focus has been on the massive U.S. ground assault to reclaim the insurgent stronghold, but the complex air war is an indication of the effort and equipment the United States has invested in winning the battle for Fallujah.

No fewer than 20 types of aircraft have been thrown into the fight, including 10 fixed-wing planes, three types of helicopters and seven kinds of unmanned drones.

"We call it the wedding cake. It's layered all the way up," said Air Force Lt. Col. David Staven, who leads the ground targeting effort on a U.S. base outside Fallujah.

Dem Radicals Speak to the Red States

An open letter to the Red-State victors:

With hard work and superb organization, you have triumphed over John Kerry and the forces of Blue-state paternalism. Congratulations. The multinational corporations that hold you in bondage remain free to profit off your sweat nearly tax free, while their overpaid senior execs continue to pay a pittance in personal income tax.

Your primary and secondary schools will continue to turn out third-rate pupils with limited opportunities, while you enjoy the satisfaction of making it on your own without health care when a catastrophic illness bankrupts your family.

Your agricultural universities will continue issuing Ph.D.s in football, and bogus Protestant Evangelical and Fundamentalist theology, and how to jerk off a bull safely. Your children will learn to borrow enough money to erect chicken houses so that they, like you, can take custody -- not possession, but custody -- of Tyson's chicks, feed them, rear them, assume losses from those that fail to thrive, and in the end earn just enough money to service their endless debt, and realize a profit of perhaps $12K a year. Your bank thanks you; Tyson thanks you; George W. Bush thanks you; and I thank you.

You can continue sending your sons to die in Iraq on a fool's errand. When you bury them, you can console yourselves with Bush's platitudes about their heroic mission to defend America from weapons of mass destruction. More>>>

Stolen Election. America Hijacked.

From a fellow blogger....

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION
by Chuck Muziani

After reading Matthew Rothschild's editorial on progressive.org, "A Letter To Incredulous Friends Around The World," I immediately thought, "Why would anyone write such tripe?"

In the article, Rothschild seems to imply the November 2 election was legitimate in its outcome. By writing, "I'm sorry. I really am. I know it must be impossible for you to understand the choice the American public made on November 2," Rothschild is implying voters favored Bush and his failures. Bull. There is no logical explanation for the reported result of the election, other than to say the election was stolen. Yes, stolen. Bloggers throughout the web are currently reviewing exit poll results, and comparing them to actual vote tallies. The conclusion amongst the bloggers: there is a disconnect between the two. Why would exit polls be accurate only in paper ballot counties, and not accurate in electronic voting counties in many states? This does not make sense. More >>>

Letter to Germany

Dear Germany,
I'm so sad about the outcome of our US election, and I don't believe it's an honest election. I've had several discussions through the internet with people in Florida and Ohio over the last few days who claim there was a problem with the election. Others do not want to believe we had and illegal election and marginalize this issue by calling it a "conspiracy theory". Our new voting machines are computerized and do not produce a paper validation record. These machines are extremely vulnerable to hackers. Some machines are equipped with paper proof of votes, in those counties the exit polls were accurate. In other counties, where there was no paper proof of votes, the exit polls mysteriously did not match the votes. These machines are not in all the polling places, but they are in enough counties to make a difference. We must ask tough questions of our state representatives. Many do not believe what I'm writing, even my father doesn't believe it. But I cannot believe that so many people stood in line to vote for this President, we're not dumb people. We can't prove it now anyway. The Republicans, (the party Bush belongs to) the majority in our parliament, become more and more extreme every year. The most extreme Republicans believe we're having a Holy War with Islam and that is why we have terrorism. They're nuts! But the people are not paying attention and do not read how extreme they are (the economy is good). Or the extreme believe Bush is a holy man. Gays and secularists are the Antichrist. Unbelievable that so many are crazy! Others believe this is political rhetoric, that the representatives are not really as extreme as they pretend to be. "I have money in the bank so why should pay attention to politics?" many say. So what can we do? This is why Kerry had to concede. The best democracy money can buy, and the churches have purchased it!
I hope your media and the people understand how many people are not happy with our President. I don't know if the future is as bleak as I think it will be, there is no predicting at this point. I hope I am wrong about what I feel is going on here. And I hope Germany will take asylum seekers in the event I am correct that our President will wage more wars. I'm afraid of this President. Are we going to start a war with Iran or North Korea now? If the election was not fraudulent then my American brethren have sadly not voted for sane foreign policy, even though it is our most important issue. Please pass on my message; I don't want the Europeans to hate us. We're not all warmongers. Many of us are angry about the war in Iraq and the torture of prisoners. In the 60's many Americans were angry about the war in Vietnam, and they protested. This war we also protested. (Myself included) we were 500,000 protesters in New York City last February! I don't think I can stand for another 4 years of Bush. Maybe I'm making a big deal over nothing. But for the first time in my life I am afraid of my government. Hopefully, I'll be more hopeful on Monday after a long rest this weekend.
Greetings from someone in America,
Amy

German Translation:
Liebe Deutschland,
Sagen viele. Was koennen wir jetzt tun? Deshalb musste Kerry nachgeben. The best democracy money can buy!
Amy

Fly Your Flag Correctly

The Republic is Gone!!

We Know....We Know

Why??
Their mothers are their sisters??
There fathers are their brothers??
Sex is strictly a family affair??
Beastiality is kinky??
Who knows what goes on in the minds of ingrates.

Dear world
Help us
Send snipers.

17 Reasons to Hang in There!!

So, hang in there folks. Something Mike doesn't tell you either, is that, there is still hope. Hope that the village idiot could meet his maker before inauguration day...then Senator Kerry would be President.
Believe in hope.....

11/5/04

Dear Friends,

Ok, it sucks. Really sucks. But before you go and cash it all in, let's, in
the words of Monty Python, 'always look on the bright side of life!' There
IS some good news from Tuesday's election.

Here are 17 reasons not to slit your wrists:

1. It is against the law for George W. Bush to run for president again.

2. Bush's victory was the NARROWEST win for a sitting president since
Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

3. The only age group in which the majority voted for Kerry was young adults
(Kerry: 54%, Bush: 44%), proving once again that your parents are always
wrong and you should never listen to them.

4. In spite of Bush's win, the majority of Americans still think the
country is headed in the wrong direction (56%), think the war wasn't worth fighting (51%), and don't approve of the job George W. Bush is doing (52%). (Note to foreigners: Don't try to figure this one out. It's an American thing, like Pop Tarts.)

5. The Republicans will not have a filibuster-proof 60-seat majority in the
Senate. If the Democrats do their job, Bush won't be able to pack the
Supreme Court with right-wing ideologues. Did I say "if the Democrats do
their job?" Um, maybe better to scratch this one.

6. Michigan voted for Kerry! So did the entire Northeast, the birthplace of
our democracy. So did 6 of the 8 Great Lakes States. And the whole West
Coast! Plus Hawaii. Ok, that's a start. We've got most of the fresh water,
all of Broadway, and Mt. St. Helens. We can dehydrate them or bury them in
lava. And no more show tunes!

7. Once again we are reminded that the buckeye is a nut, and not just any
old nut -- a poisonous nut. A great nation was felled by a poisonous nut.
May Ohio State pay dearly this Saturday when it faces Michigan.

8. 88% of Bush's support came from white voters. In 50 years, America will
no longer have a white majority. Hey, 50 years isn't such a long time! If
you're ten years old and reading this, your golden years will be truly
golden and you will be well cared for in your old age.

9. Gays, thanks to the ballot measures passed on Tuesday, cannot get married
in 11 new states. Thank God. Just think of all those wedding gifts we won't
have to buy now.

10. Five more African Americans were elected as members of Congress,
including the return of Cynthia McKinney of Georgia. It's always good to
have more blacks in there fighting for us and doing the job our candidates
can't.

11. The CEO of Coors was defeated for Senate in Colorado. Drink up!

12. Admit it: We like the Bush twins and we don't want them to go away.

13. At the state legislative level, Democrats picked up a net of at least 3
chambers in Tuesday's elections. Of the 98 partisan-controlled state
legislative chambers (house/assembly and senate), Democrats went into the
2004 elections in control of 44 chambers, Republicans controlled 53
chambers, and 1 chamber was tied. After Tuesday, Democrats now control 47
chambers, Republicans control 49 chambers, 1 chamber is tied and 1 chamber
(Montana House) is still undecided.

14. Bush is now a lame duck president. He will have no greater moment than
the one he's having this week. It's all downhill for him from here on out --
and, more significantly, he's just not going to want to do all the hard work
that will be expected of him. It'll be like everyone's last month in 12th
grade -- you've already made it, so it's party time! Perhaps he'll treat the
next four years like a permanent Friday, spending even more time at the
ranch or in Kennebunkport. And why shouldn't he? He's already proved his
point, avenged his father and kicked our ass.

15. Should Bush decide to show up to work and take this country down a very
dark road, it is also just as likely that either of the following two
scenarios will happen: a) Now that he doesn't ever need to pander to the
Christian conservatives again to get elected, someone may whisper in his ear
that he should spend these last four years building "a legacy" so that
history will render a kinder verdict on him and thus he will not push for
too aggressive a right-wing agenda; or b) He will become so cocky and
arrogant -- and thus, reckless -- that he will commit a blunder of such
major proportions that even his own party will have to remove him from
office.

16. There are nearly 300 million Americans -- 200 million of them of voting
age. We only lost by three and a half million! That's not a landslide -- it
means we're almost there. Imagine losing by 20 million. If you had 58 yards
to go before you reached the goal line and then you barreled down 55 of
those yards, would you stop on the three yard line, pick up the ball and go
home crying -- especially when you get to start the next down on the three
yard line? Of course not! Buck up! Have hope! More sports analogies are
coming!!!

17. Finally and most importantly, over 55 million Americans voted for the
candidate dubbed "The #1 Liberal in the Senate." That's more than the total
number of voters who voted for either Reagan, Bush I, Clinton or Gore.
Again, more people voted for Kerry than Reagan. If the media are looking for
a trend it should be this -- that so many Americans were, for the first time
since Kennedy, willing to vote for an out-and-out liberal. The country has
always been filled with evangelicals -- that is not news. What IS news is
that so many people have shifted toward a Massachusetts liberal. In fact,
that's BIG news. Which means, don't expect the mainstream media, the ones
who brought you the Iraq War, to ever report the real truth about November
2, 2004. In fact, it's better that they don't. We'll need the element of
surprise in 2008.

Feeling better? I hope so. As my friend Mort wrote me yesterday, "My
Romanian grandfather used to say to me, 'Remember, Morton, this is such a
wonderful country -- it doesn't even need a president!'"

But it needs us. Rest up, I'll write you again tomorrow.

Yours,

Michael Moore

Scum to Monitor Chat Rooms

Knowing how demented and psychotic the scum are, only the porn rooms will probably be monitored. Any room with intelligent conversation will be avoided.

TROY, N.Y. (AP) -- Amid the torrent of jabber in Internet chat rooms - flirting by QTpie and BoogieBoy, arguments about politics and horror flicks - are terrorists plotting their next move?
The government certainly isn't discounting the possibility. It's taking the idea seriously enough to fund a yearlong study on chat room surveillance under an anti-terrorism program. More here>>>>

Damn, these idiots can't even catch Osama bin Laden!!!
